The last topic we are going to cover in Module 1.6 - Classifying Polygons is actually NOT a polygon at all! One of the last topics we are going to cover in this course is Circles, so this basic vocabulary and knowledge of circles will be very important in a few short months.
Like polygons, circles are also closed figures but all the points on the circles "edge" (circumference) are equal distance from the center and all circles are circular (round) in shape. It is also important to remember that ALL circles are 360 degrees around. |
Let's review some basic circle vocabulary.
Circumference: the distance around a circle; it's perimeter Center: the point in the directly in the middle of the circle; every point on the "edge" of a circle is equal distance from this point Radius: The distance from the center to a point on the "edge" Diameter: The distance from a "edge" to "edge" through the center |
