Transformations are movements of objects on the coordinate plane. There are four different types of transformations:
Translation: Also known as a Slide. You can translate a figure by sliding it up, down, left or right from it's original position.
Reflection: Also known as a Flip. When an object is reflected the object does not change, the reflected object is congruent to the original object. In order to reflect an object there needs to be a line of reflection.
Rotation: When an object is rotated it is turned around a fixed point, called the center of rotation. A rotated object is turned a certain number of degrees and can be turned clockwise or counter-clockwise.
Dilation: When an object is dilated the object either stretches or shrinks by a specific scale factor. A dilation creates an image that is the same shape as the original, but is a different size.
